In Kin, a family watches archival footage of relatives from an earlier generation. The archival images are withheld from the audience. Instead, the camera records the faces of the people watching them: their glances, smiles, moments of recognition, discomfort, and silence.

By turning attention away from the family record and towards the act of viewing it, the film examines how images acquire meaning within personal relationships. What matters is not only what the footage preserves, but what becomes visible in the present-day responses of those who inherit it.
